With just two weeks remaining in the Texas high school football regular season, district championship races across the VarsityVue coverage area are coming into focus.

Friday night’s results provided clarity in several districts while setting the stage for some of the season’s most consequential matchups.

Stephenville took a major step toward another district championship with a convincing victory over previously unbeaten Jarrell. Goldthwaite and Stamford are preparing for a highly anticipated Week 10 meeting, while unbeaten district leader De Leon remains on a collision course with Cisco in Week 11. Hawley also remains in contention, leaving open the possibility of a three-way tiebreaker if the remaining results fall into place.

Elsewhere, Millsap holds an important advantage in its district championship pursuit, and Santo continues to strengthen its position with another dominant performance.

Stephenville Takes Control With Statement Win Over Jarrell

Stephenville entered Friday’s meeting with Jarrell facing one of its most significant district challenges of the season.

The Yellow Jackets responded with a 42–20 victory, improving to 8–0 and handing the previously unbeaten Cougars their first loss.

With the head-to-head advantage secured, Stephenville now controls its path toward the District 12-4A Division I championship.

The Yellow Jackets close the regular season against Burnet and Marble Falls. Victories in both contests would secure the district championship outright, without the need for any tiebreaking scenarios.

Friday’s victory also extended Stephenville’s remarkable winning streak as the Yellow Jackets continue their pursuit of another deep postseason run.

Goldthwaite and Stamford Set for Week 10 Championship Showdown

One of the area’s most anticipated games is approaching.

Goldthwaite improved to 9–0 Friday with a 41–0 victory over Cross Plains, setting up next week’s trip to Stamford.

Both programs enter the matchup unbeaten in District 7-2A Division II play, positioning their October 30 meeting as a potential district championship decider.

For Goldthwaite, the opportunity includes preserving an undefeated season while taking another step toward a district title. For Stamford, the matchup presents an opportunity to claim the upper hand in the championship race on its home field.

With so much at stake, Goldthwaite at Stamford will be VarsityVue’s Week 10 Game of the Week.

De Leon Controls Its Destiny as Cisco and Hawley Remain in Pursuit

The District 5-2A Division I championship race could produce one of the most interesting finishes in the region.

De Leon continued its unbeaten district run Friday with a 45–21 victory over Anson. Cisco defeated Abilene TLCA 78–0, while Hawley earned a 38–14 victory over Hico.

Those results keep all three programs in the championship discussion, but De Leon remains in control of the race.

The Bearcats face Abilene TLCA next week before traveling to Cisco for the November 6 regular-season finale. Cisco must first get past Hico, while Hawley faces Anson and then Abilene TLCA.

De Leon controls its own destiny. Victories in its final two games would secure the district championship outright.

A Cisco victory over De Leon in Week 11, combined with the necessary results elsewhere, could create a three-way tie.

De Leon has already defeated Hawley, while Hawley owns a four-point head-to-head victory over Cisco. If Cisco defeats De Leon and all three finish with identical district records, the championship could be decided through district tiebreaking procedures.

For now, the equation is simple for De Leon: keep winning, and no tiebreaker is necessary.

Millsap Holds Important Advantage in District Championship Race

Hamilton’s 42–20 loss to Tolar on Friday has helped clarify the district championship picture.

Millsap already owns a 44–40 head-to-head victory over Tolar, an important result that could prove decisive as the district race reaches its conclusion.

The Bulldogs travel to Hamilton on October 30 for another matchup with significant championship implications.

Meanwhile, Tolar faces Clifton next week before closing the regular season against Dublin.

With the head-to-head advantage over Tolar already secured, Millsap controls an important piece of the championship race. The remaining results will determine whether that advantage is enough to secure the district crown.

Santo Strengthens Its District Championship Position

Santo delivered one of Friday night’s most emphatic results, defeating Hubbard 62–0.

The Wildcats entered the week unbeaten in District 8-2A Division II competition and have already recorded important victories over Crawford and Mart.

Friday’s victory over Hubbard adds another significant result to Santo’s district résumé and strengthens its position entering the final two weeks.

The Wildcats now turn their attention to Meridian and Wortham with an opportunity to finish district play undefeated.

After navigating several of their toughest district opponents, Santo has placed itself in an excellent position to compete for the championship.

The Final Stretch

With two weeks remaining, the stakes are only getting higher. Some teams are closing in on district championships, while others still have work to do to keep their title hopes alive.

The next two Fridays will determine who enters the postseason as district champions and who will have to settle for chasing a title in November.
